First Annual TCHF of Oregon Benefit "Western Themed" Poker Party

At our recent Benefit Event in October of 2012, one of our new sign-up events was a Poker Party.  Held recently and hosted by TCHF Board Members, supporters and friends, we were overjoyed to welcome 3 tables of 7 people each for a total of 21 players.  Comprised of both seasoned and new players a great time was had by all.  We used a "dealer's choice" approach with Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Chicago, Five Card Stud/Draw and Seven Card Stud being some of more popular games.  Although the majority of players were men we were very happy to have several women join the event and look forward to a larger respresentation next time.

The evening began with beverages and appetizers beautifully prepared by the host family and friends.  After several hours of play and with all of the original players still in, there was another break for a bbq dinner consisting of pulled-pork sliders, riblets, baked beans and other delicious dishes.  After dinner, the serious play began and over the next several hours people began to fall out.  There was a predetermined finishing point at which point the three players holding the most chips were awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.  Each winner received a nice prize including VIP tickets to some other events being held in 2013.

The evening was a great success with some friendly competition, excellent food and warm fellowship enjoyed by all. The proceeds from the event will go directly toward the ongoing needs of the Mission in Creel, Mexico.  Thank you to all who attended and we look forward to seeing you again next year.  I am sure that we can squeeze in another table or two so please bring a friend or relative.

Thank you again to the host family for your friendly hospitality and may Gob bless you all!  John and Peggy Brockamp
